We have for sale a Very Moving Mothers Georgian Mourning For Her Child Ring Dated 1787. The ring consists of a marquise shaped glass crystal compartment under which is painted a georgian scene of a mother seated underneath a weeping willow tree next to a Urn and tombstone of her child which has the following inscription on it which reads. R M c: KENZTE : BORN 23 JAN : 1775 DIED 30 JUNE 1787 AGED 12. On the underside of the ring is a marquise shaped glass locket which contains a lock of plaited hair of the deceased child.
The hand painted navette sepia is of excellent quality and looks truly stunning when viewed in person. The dimensions of the head of the ring are 45mm by 28mm.There is a wide grooved gold band shank on the ring that tests as 15ct yellow gold as does the head of the ring. The shank in currently sized a British N ½ / USA 7 but could be resized up or down by us free of charge. The ring is in excellent condition with no visible damage and looks stunning when worn.
