During the Art Deco Period only the richest of the rich could afford to have this form of coral harvested and imported into Europe and North America. Onyx is a chalcedony quartz that is mined in Brazil, India, California and Uruguay. It has a fine texture and black color; however some onyx also displays white bands or ribbons against a black or brown background and this variety is known as sardonyx. The name comes from the Greek word onyx which means nail of a finger or claw. Legend says that one day while Venus was sleeping Eros/Cupid cut her fingernails and left the clippings scattered on the ground.Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned them into stone which later became known as onyx. This ring was bought from an English Estate, and then brought to the U. The ring includes an incredible Angelskin Coral center piece that is able to flip horizontally to showcase an equally sized Onyx stone!

Both the Angelskin Coral and the Onyx are cabochon cut into a stunning oval shape and feature a smooth polished surface. The Angelskin Coral is an incredible light pink color, while the Onyx is a solid black color.
The Coral and Onyx body measures in at 29.5 mm long by 17.5 mm wide. The diamonds in this piece are beautifully round cut and showcase an absolutely dazzling sparkle when reflecting light off of their surface.
These diamonds are in great condition and weigh in at. The design in this gorgeous ring was entirely made by a talented modern designer! The gold design includes a thick yellow gold setting and band that hold the unique center piece in place perfectly. On the Angelskin Coral portion of the center piece, there is a lovely flower design that holds a diamond in place! The ring is marked "MON" by its original maker on the inside of the band, and appears to be marked "HURPUS" on the outside of the band.
