18K Opal Griffin Pendant / Brooch by Gaston Lafitte French Art Nouveau
This magnificent Art Nouveau pendant/brooch was made by the French jeweler Gaston Lafitte. Expertly fabricated 18k gold with a bloomed finish, this intricately sculpted piece centers on a bowed wreath framing a freely swinging, opal bezel-set in platinum. The wreath is flanked by seated winged griffins, proudly holding the ends of a ribbon swag in their beaks. This piece has been hand finished on both sides. A true Art Nouveau treasure. Measurements: 40 mm wide, 44 mm long, opal measures 10 mm x 9 mm. Hallmark: French eagles head hallmark located on the c-clasp indicating 18K gold. Notes: The pin stem and c-clasp are removable, please note the crazing on the opal.
